Maruti Suzuki launches Swift CNG, price starts at INR 7.77 lakh

Its sales in the mini and compact segment increased to 105,151 units in July 2022, against 89,953 units in July 2021. This includes sales of 20,333 units of Alto and S-Presso, along with 84,818 units of Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR during the month under review.
The carmaker’s revenue from operations during April-June 2022 period was also up at INR 25,288 crore compared to INR 16,799 crore in April-June 2021.
Slated to be Maruti's most tech-forward and expensive SUV so far, the 2022 Grand Vitara makes its official debut today. According to the automaker, the SUV is scheduled to go on sale sometime in the following month. It will also be the first-ever strong hybrid SUV made by the company.
The model will be Maruti’s version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder which was unveiled last month. It will be manufactured at Toyota’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka and compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
At a time when global automotive industry and governments across the world are looking at achieving the end objective of carbon neutrality, Maruti Suzuki is taking a multi-technology approach with a mix of CNG, hybrids, ethanol and bio-CNG compliant engines. In the next 5-7 years, the company is also aiming to introduce strong hybrid technology across its range of vehicles.
The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly in domestic models, the company said.
The second-generation Brezza will be available in manual and automatic transmission options. Built on Suzuki’s TECT platform, the model comes with electric sunroof, 22.86cm SmartPlay Pro+ Infotainment system, wireless charging dock, head up display, 360view camera.
“Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) and TKM will market the new model in India as Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively. Furthermore, the two companies are planning to export the new model to markets outside India including Africa,” the two companies said in a joint statement.
The all-new Hot and Techy Brezza will be available with a new youthful and energetic design, modern and spacious cabin and next-gen powertrain with 6 speed Automatic Transmission, the company said.
Maruti Suzuki plans to use the Visual Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform of SSPL called Dave.AI, to enhance digital sales experience of its customers. The investment is part of Maruti Suzuki’s Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) initiative to support startups with promising mobility solutions.
Total domestic sales of the company, including passenger vehicles, LCVs and to other OEMs stood at 134,222 units in May 2022, up from 35,293 units in May 2021.
According to the sources, Maruti Suzuki will stop the production of the current Eeco in July and launch the next-generation of the country's largest selling van during the festive period this year. Eeco was also among the country's 10 most selling PVs in FY22.
Maruti might introduce the new Brezza in CNG as well. The company has already introduced Swift Dzire, Ertiga with CNG variants and it will offer CNG across its entire Nexa range soon.

Further, fitting six airbags in cars like the Alto may not be easy and once the regulation is implemented the fate of such cars is uncertain.
