India on track to have world's second-largest urban metro system by 2024, says Hardeep Singh Puri

Japanese automakers least prepared for EV transition: Think-tank

New e-car norms on way as India looks to build a China Wall on EV street

The development comes weeks after Tesla chief Elon Musk cancelled his much-hyped visit to India in April. Tesla is yet to communicate its India plans to the government under the new EV policy, the official said. Musk, who was scheduled to visit India April 21-22, postponed his visit at the last moment, citing “very heavy Tesla obligations”.

Coal India, NMDC exploring lithium mines overseas

State-run miners Coal India and NMDC are venturing into lithium mines in Chile and Australia, aiming to secure critical minerals. India's Mines Ministry encourages state-owned firms like ONGC Videsh to explore overseas. Delegations will visit Zambia and Congo for joint exploration. India eyes trade pacts for access to critical minerals globally, including with Chile and Mongolia.

India's coal import rises 8% to 268 MT in FY24

India's coal import surged by 7.7% to 268.24 MT in FY24, driven by lower seaborne prices and anticipated rise in power demand during summer. March FY24 saw an increase to 23.96 MT. Non-coking coal import was 15.33 MT, while coking coal import stood at 5.34 MT. Domestic coal production in FY24 grew by 11.65% to 997.25 MT.

Maruti Suzuki expects over 30% jump in CNG vehicle sales at six lakh units in FY25

The company sells CNG trims across various models like WagonR, Brezza, Dzire, and Ertiga, among others in the domestic market. Bharti said the company's capacity expansion by around 1 lakh units per annum at its Manesar plant, Haryana largely addresses the Ertiga supply issues. Ertiga CNG demand is huge in the market leading to supply issues, he noted.

Diesel, petrol export revenues dip 20% to USD 33 bn in 2023-24

India's exports of diesel and petrol fell by a fifth year-on-year to USD 33 billion in 2023-24 due to declining international prices. Diesel generated the largest share of export revenues for Indian refiners, accounting for USD 22 billion of the USD 48 billion earned by exports of refined fuels. The war in Ukraine and Western sanctions on Russia caused fuel prices to rise, boosting export earnings for Indian refiners.

Ampin Energy secures INR 292 crore from Swiss firm ResponsAbility
