The local unit of the German auto component major is close to getting a major investment approval from the headquarters. A major part of the fund will be utilised in ramping up manufacturing capacities, and the Indian R&D centre.
Now the anti-lock braking system (ABS) is mandatory only for two-wheelers above 125cc. May be in two years the regulation would cover the 100cc bikes also. Continental Automotive Brake Systems, one of the leading ABS manufacturers, is ready to go to the market within such a time frame with increased localisation. “As the market is legislated for 100cc for ABS we will be ready with the solutions which are optimised for that market,” Krishan Kohli, managing director, Continental Automotive Brake Systems, told ETAuto in an interview.
