The AVTR 1922, powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), is built on the AVTR platform and shares a high degree of commonality with Ashok Leyland's existing diesel truck range. This ensures that the customers benefit from the streamlined service and maintenance processes, the company said.
The startup said it has received approval from MGL (Mahanagar Gas Limited) to operate two composite CNG Dispensing Units (CDUs) or mobile CNG stations in Mumbai, to begin with.
TFD start the service in the next three months from Sion and Mahape in Mumbai and will gradually be extended to the other parts of the city, the company said.
With the latest increase, CNG prices are up by INR 16 per kg since they came down by INR 6 a kg between April 1 and 5. The rates were reduced after the state government had cut the VAT (Value Added Tax) to 3 per cent from 13.5 per cent.
The total number of vehicles registered in 2019-20 was 7.52 lakh as against 6.9 lakh in the same period last year — an increase of 62,000.
The private pump-owners have refused to sign new agreements with Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), which they said will “reduce their commission rates”.
An MGL statement said that dealers have resorted to forming their association and have threatened to take coercive actions, including, stoppage of operations at their outlets which would inconvenience the public at large.
The fire also affected public transport, with more than 40% autos off roads and equal number of Kaali Peeli taxis. The cut in supply had also affected buses, app-based cabs and private cars which run on green fuel.
The CNG kit for two wheelers comprises of two cylinders of 1.2 kg each, which can run up to 120 to 130 km per kg at an approximate cost of Rs 0.60 per km per single fill and is expected to be substantially economical as compared to a similar petrol run vehicle at the current level of prices as per the kit manufacturer.
Dharmendra Pradhan also launched e-wallet payments which can be used at the time of filling CNG, thus supporting and working towards the objective of making India a cashless economy.
As per idle emission test, the hydrocarbon emissions from CNG retrofitted two wheelers are 75% lesser and CO emissions are 20% lesser as compared to petrol driven similar models.
In three years, the population of private cars running on CNG increased from 1 lakh to 2.2 lakh, a growth of over 100% in the Mumbai metropolitan region.
