Gujarat: Scrappage policy to boost new car, CV sales, say dealers

After the Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) launched the new vehicle scrappage policy, car dealers believe it will help boost the sale of new cars as well as commercial vehicles. The new policy comes with a slew of incentives such as waiver of registration fee of the purchased vehicle, scrap value and road tax rebate, getting a 10-year old vehicle scrapped after a certain period becomes an attractive proposition.

General Motors India offers final separation scheme to Maharashtra plant staff

The scheme, which is 50% higher than its previous offer, is intended as a truce between workers and the company, who have been at loggerheads for the last six months. Impact of pandemic curbs: 40% transport vehicles off roads in Gujarat

It’s akin to the last year’s lockdown for transporters. Movement restrictions and curbs have been imposed to tackle the massive surge in cases of Covid-19 and Gujarat transporters are feeling the heat. Estimates of Akhil Gujarat Truck Transporters’ Association (AGTTA) suggest that at least 40% of the transport vehicles have now gone off the roads.

Vehicle sales reach 83% of 2019 figures in Gujarat

“Cashback offers, discounts worked well in wooing customers for buying two-wheeler's mainly driven by pent-up demand of the past few months. Sales were significantly good at our dealerships. However, they still fell short by 10% against last year’s Dussehra sales,” said Malav Shah, a city-based two-wheeler dealer.
