Tractor Manufacturers’ Association said tractors like automobiles can be identified by serial numbers and hence exact duty paid (embedded) incurred can be arrived at.
Input cost per tractor would go up by about Rs 25,000 having an impact on industry working capital to the extent of Rs 1,600 crore, he said in a statement.
An estimated 25,000 tractors and over 1,500 units of construction equipment vehicles have not been registered by RTOs (regional transport offices) in many states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Tamil Nadu since the ban came into force on April 1.
Goenka said the long-term beneficial impact of demonetisation on the economy would be very much if the govt was able to do what they had set out to do with the note ban.
