Toyota recalls 23,000 Altis in India

Toyota Motor Corp recalled about 2.9 million vehicles in Japan, China, Oceania and other regions, including India, due to faulty airbag inflators manufactured by Takata. Toyota said recalls were issued for about 1.16 million vehicles sold in Oceania, the Middle East and the automaker's smaller markets, while about 750,000 vehicles had been recalled in Japan. In India, nearly 23,000 units of the Corolla Altis sedan were called back and these were manufactured between 2010 and 2012. The customers were informed of the exercise and the recall was done free-of-cost.
