Uber is testing a new pricing service called 'Uber Flex' in over a dozen cities in India. The service allows commuters to bid for a particular fare, giving them greater control over pricing. Long queues at petrol pumps in India as people rush to fill their tanks amid fears of a fuel shortage. The queues are a result of truck drivers protesting against the new penal law on hit-and-run accidents, which is part of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. The law stipulates up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of INR 7 lakh for drivers causing serious road accidents and fleeing the scene. In Saturday's incident, nobody was injured as there were no passengers on the bus. Only the driver and conductor were on it when fire started near the rear right tyres. An official said that during the initial probe, no CNG leak was found. "We suspect that the fire was sparked by friction because of some issue with tyre liners," the official said.

Two-wheeler registrations in Mumbai reached a new high of 7,155 during the week leading up to Dussehra, a 67% increase from last year. Car registrations, however, declined by 13% compared to last year but remained 46% higher than pre-Covid levels in 2019. The passenger vehicle segment is expected to reach a new peak this fiscal year, selling over 4 million units, with SUVs driving the demand. Sales of passenger vehicles have increased from 2.5 million units a decade ago to 3.8 million units in the last fiscal year. This year, industry experts predict sales to reach 4.1 million units, with SUV sales projected to be around 1.9 million units. The share of hatchbacks and sedans in the sales mix has declined, while SUVs continue to be strong growth drivers. Some manufacturers have exited the PV segment, reducing the number of brands in the market.

Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday said a US court has allowed its subsidiary to keep producing and selling the post-2020 version of its off-road vehicle Roxor in the American market. The Eastern District Court of Michigan on July 19, 2023, issued its opinion and order on Fiat Chrysler Automobile's (FCA's) renewed motion to enjoin the Post-2020 Roxor and based on its analysis declined to apply the safe distance rule to this case as sought by FCA, Mahindra & Mahindra said in a regulatory filing.

Ashok Leyland has secured INR 800 crore worth of orders from the Indian Army, which include the procurement of specialist vehicles FAT 4x4 and GTV 6x6 for towing light and medium guns. The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered over the next 12 months. According to Amandeep Singh, President for Defence Business at Ashok Leyland, the mobility platforms, ranging from 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 & 12x12 are indigenously developed and manufactured by Ashok Leyland and that contributed significantly towards import substitution.
