UPDATED: Most recalled vehicles in India
Take a look at the ten most recalled vehicles in Indian auto industry. The recalls mentioned here fall between the periods of August 2012 – till date.
A total of 1,89,705 units of Honda's highest selling car were recalled.
In June 2013, 42,672 units of City were recalled for malfunctioning of driver side power window switch.
Recently, in September 2015, Honda Cars India announced India's biggest ever recall of 2,23,578 vehicles.
The worst affected was City with 1,43,154 units recalled for airbag inflators.
During December 2015, 64,428 units of diesel variants of Honda City manufactured from December 2013 to July 2015 were recalled to voluntary replace the Fuel Return Pipe.
Recently, in February 2016, 49,572 units of the car were recalled to repair driver side airbag inflators. The effected models were manufactured between January 2012 - June 2013.
In July 2016, 1,37,270 units of City were recalled to replace defective Takata airbags.
This recall was extended in September 2013. With respect to RTB, 1,09,469 units and for hose 30,681 units of Figo were recalled.
Recently, in April 2016, the company recalled 42,300 units of Figo along with Figo Aspire to rectify a software glitch in the functioning of airbags. It also said about half of these recalled models belongs to Figo.
The car maker explained that the recall will enable them to inspect and if necessary replace clutch pedal lever, which is susceptible to cracking on continuous use.
The batch pertains to Beat diesel produced between December 2010 and July 2014.
In March 2013, 24,695 units were recalled for oil seepage, and another 60,000 in February 2015 for upgradation of the side curtain airbag software.
The company recently launched the face-lifted version of this SUV; added another variant W10 to it.
In November 2013, 581 units of Dzire were recalled for defective steering column.
The highest number of the car (42,481 units) was recalled in April 2014 for replacing fuel filler neck.
Another 12,486 Dzires were recalled in September 2014.
In July 2014, the car attained 10 lakh cumulative sales mark.
In May 2016, 1,961 DZire Diesel cars (only AGS variant) have been recalled to attended to for inspection and replacement of a faulty fuel filter.
It has been recalled once, in the concerned period, in April 2014 for fault in cable mounted in the steering wheel.
It recalled 972 EcoSports soon after the launch in mid-2013 to relocate the glow plug module and 20,700 units in December last year to fix problems with the front airbag and fuel line.
Recently in November 2015, nearly 16,500 units were recalled to fix a potentially faulty part of the rear suspension unit that the company said could increase the risk of accidents.
In August 2012, Ford India recalled a total of 1,28,655 units. Individual number of Ford Fiesta Classic could not be known.
In September 2013, 25,871 Fiesta Classics were recalled.
In December 2013, 985 units of the EX variant of Scorpio was recalled for repairing a pressure regulating valve.
In July 2014, 23,519 units of the same variant of the SUV was recalled for the same defect.
Scorpio is the first SUV from Mahindra built for the global market. the company recently launched its automatic variant.
In May 2013, 15,902 units were recalled for replacing seal of primary and/or secondary circuit of brake master cylinder.
In June 2015, 5,500 Sunnys were recalled for rectifying engine switch and airbags.
