In mid-sized sedan segment, Toyota launched the all new Yaris this year. The car is powered by a singular 1.5 litre petrol powertrain that makes 107 PS power and 140 NM of torque. Mileage offered is 17.2 km/l for the manual and 17.7 km/l for automatic.The exterior of the new Yaris includes piano black interior projector headlamps with LED line guide, rear power outlets and rear sunshade. It is also equipped with a 6 speed manual and a well spread out 7 speed automatic CVT transmission.

Built on the K1 platform, the Hyundai Motor India launched its all new Santro in compact hatchback segment. The car debuts in-house Developed World-Class Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) and will also come with factory fitted CNG. It is equipped with 4-Cylinder 1.1 Litre Petrol engine offering 69 PS of power matted with an option of MT and in-house developed Smart Auto AMT transmissions.

Competing with likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alutras G4 is a rebadged second generation Ssangyong Rexton. The Alturas G4 is powered by 2.2-litre diesel engine by Ssangyong that churns out 180.5hp at 4000rpm and 420Nm of torque at 1600-2600rpm. Matted with 7-speed Gtronic automatic gearbox from Mercedes. On safety front, the carmaker offers 9 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Brake Assistance System, Emergency Stop Signal and much more.

Maruti Suzuki launched the second generation of Ertiga MPV designed on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform. The car is powered by 1.5 litre engine based on Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki ( SHVS) tech which provides a mileage of 19.34km/l for the manual and 18.69km/l when paired with automatic transmission. It also comes with 1.3-litre diesel turbo engine paired with 5-speed manual gearbox that gives a mileage of 25.47km/l. The company will soon planning to announce its CNG variant as well.

This year Mahindra re-entered seven-seater and eight-seater segment with its first ever MPV Marazzo. Available in four trims (M2 to M8), Marazzo comes with only a 1.5-litre, BS VI complied diesel engine as of now. This engine is equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged unit that gives 121 Bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The company is planning to launch the BS VI compliant Petrol by early 2020. In addition the car has dual airbags, ABS with EBD and disc brakes all around. More recently, Mahindra Marazzo has become the first Indian MPV to get a four-star safety rating from Global NCAP.

Swedish luxury car manufacturer Volvo Cars India introduced its first compact SUV XC40 R-Design on the new CMA Platform and completes the SUV line-up for Volvo. The SUV is powered by D4, 2-litre that churns out 190 PS power and 400 NM torque. On the safety front, it includes features like adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation along with pilot and lane assist. Moreover, it also comes with radar-based driving.

After a long gap, Lamborghini entered the SUV segment with Urus. This SUV shares the platform with the company’s sister brand SUVs like Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Volkswagen Touareg and is likely to feature a 48V-powered active suspension roll. Urus uses a new 4-liter V8 engine and offers wheel size option ranges between 21-inch and 23-inch.

Japanese auto major Honda launched the fifth generation of its premium SUV CR-V this year. The company introduced diesel powertrain to the CR-V line-up in India for the first time. While the petrol variants are powered by a 2 litre CVT (continuously variable transmission) engine delivering a power output of 154 PS, the 1.6 litre diesel trims come mated to a nine-speed automatic transmissions. Both petrol and diesel versions of the model features automatic transmissions only.

The Tata Tigor JTP gets a host of cosmetic changes, however, the most important update is the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 114PS of power and 150Nm of torque. The upgraded motor delivers 29PS and 36Nm. Paired with performance-oriented intake and exhaust systems, these cars can go from 0-100kmph in just 10 seconds.
