All you need to know about India's first electric SUV Kona Electric
Hyundai Motors India launched its first all-electric SUV, Hyundai Kona in India on 9th July kicking off its EV drive in India. Here is all you need to know about KONA electric.
Hyundai Kona is priced at Rs. 25.30 Lakh (ex-showroom) for single tone paint and Rs. 25.50 Lakh (ex-showroom) for dual tone paint. It comes in India through CBU (Completely Built Unit) initially and can be assembled at Hyundai's Chennai plant later.
The Hyundai Kona gets a 39.2 kWh battery pack having an all-electric ARAI certified mileage of 452 Km in a full charge.
Hyundai is offering two chargers with Kona Electric for the buyers - a portable charger that can be used with 3-pin socket and a 7kWh AC Wall Box Charger and a DC fast charger, which can charge the SUV up to 80% in just 57 minutes.
The Kona Electric comes with a 17.77 cm floating touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a 7-inch digital cluster as well. The paddle shifters for regenerative braking control are located at the back of the multi-function steering wheel.
Kona Electric comes with Smart-Sense Technology. Collision assistance, emergency braking and lane assistance along with six airbags, blind spot monitoring system, rear-view parking camera.
Hyundai claims the Kona Electric's running cost is 80 per cent lower than that associated with a petrol car.
Hyundai will be retailing the Kona through select 15 dealerships in 11 cities with necessary EV infrastructure and support. Hyundai will install fast chargers in all electric selling dealerships. There will be Kona Electric support vehicles in select cities for emergency charging.
The Kona Electric gets four drive modes - Eco, Eco Plus, Comfort and Sport.
Hyundai Kona joins the SUV line-up of Hyundai that includes Venue, Creta, and Tucson.
