Datsun Redi Go Launched: Lets see how tough the competition is going to be

Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company's Datsun brand has launched its new small car Redi Go on May 7, 2016.

The car will be competing with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Eon.

Lets have a look at where exactly Datsun Redi Go stands when it comes to its competitors.
Redi Go is available in 0.8L three cylinder petrol engine, and has five exterior colours.

It has five variants - D, A, T, T(O), and S. They are priced between Rs 2.38 - 3.34 lakh (All prices ex showroom Delhi).
Its 799 cc, DOHC, 12 valve, 3 cylinders engine produces maximum power of 54PS @ 5678 RPM. The company claims it has a fuel consumption of 25.17 km/l in combined driving.

It has 5-speed manual transmission, and its i-SAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology) engine automatically adjusts spark timing in response to fuel quality and power requirement.

Redi Go has a ground clearance of 185mm.

It comes equipped with Inside rear view mirror, Driver Side Sun Visor, Passenger Side Sun Visor, 3 Spokes Steering Wheel, Accessory Socket, Glove Box Lid, High Grade Fabric Seat Cloth, Smart Molded Door Trims, and Front Door Map Pocket.

For comfort and convenience, it has Heater & Ventilator, Airconditioner, Tachometer, Rear Assist Grips, Utilitarian Front console, Console Bottle holder, Console Cup Holder, Folding Down Rear Seat-back, Drive Computer, and 222 litres boot space.
The Datsun Pro-Safe 7 is the key in Redi Go which makes it safe, secure, and reliable.

It features Performance Augmented Brakes (PAB), Reinforced Crash Protection Shell (RCPS), High Eye Point, Technologically Superior Suspension System, Adaptive Electric Power Steering (AEPS), Force Absorbing Bolster Support (FABS), and a driber airbag.
Both Alto 800 and Alto K10 are available in petrol as well as CNG.

While Alto 800 is priced between Rs 2.45 lakh - Rs 3.76 lakh (all prices ex showroom Delhi); priced Rs 6,000 - Rs 42,000 higher than Redi Go.

When it comes to Alto K10, it is priced over Rs 80,000 more than Redi Go.
The fuel efficiency for Alto 800 is 24.7 km/l (petrol) and 33.44 km/l (CNG). While the efficiency in K10 for petrol engine remains the same, CNG one is 32.26 km/l fuel efficient.

Recently, the company has provided Alto with driver airbag as an option across variants of 800 and K10.
Datsun Redi Go is based on is based on the same CMF-A platform as Renault Kwid. It has the same 3-cylinder 799cc petrol engine that produces 54PS and 74Nm.

It is available in five variants - STD, RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXT Driver Airbag Option; priced between Rs 2.62 lakh - Rs 3.67 lakh (all prices ex showroom Delhi).

That means, Kwid is priced around Rs 23,000 - Rs 33,000 higher than Redi Go.
Kwid and Redi Go has the same fuel efficiency at 25 km/l, and they both offers driver airbag option at the top end variant.

However, Kwid has a ground clearance of 180mm, while Redi Go has 185mm.
Hyundai Eon, since its launch, has not received much upgradation. It is available in 0.8 MPi 5 Speed Manual and 1.0L Kappa 5 Speed Transmission petrol engines.

It is priced between Rs 3.38 lakh - Rs 4.68 lakh (all prices ex showroom Delhi). Thus, it is priced at a much higher price than Redi Go (approx Rs 99,000 - Rs 1.34 lakh)
Eon's petrol engine gives fuel efficiency of 21.1 km/l.

Hyundai Eon comes with standard features like body colour bumpers and door handles, fog lamps, centre console with AC control and a basic audio system with AUX-IN and USB connectivity, a number storage compartments, and optional driver side airbag.
