Employee rules we wish become a reality in India

Companies have different rules and regulations. some are rigid while some flexible. However, there are certain rules which each and every employee would love to follow. Here is the list of some of these rules, applicable in certain countries, for which India is waiting.

Las Vegas, Nevada based online shop Zappos.com has an off beat rule, but only for its new employees. If an new employee joins Zappos, the company offers them $3,000 to leave if they don't feel 100% committed. That means, you are paid for not doing work and leaving the company.

In Portugal, there is a very strange rule, yet a boon for the employees. It says that employers cannot dismiss employees, there is no termination period in the country's employment law. You need to offer a decent resignation package, beg them to leave.

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has said that time taken to travel to and from work at the beginning and end of each day should count as working time under the law. It has ruled that workers without a fixed office should be able to charge for the time such journeys last.

In Japanese business, hardworking employees are allowed to sleep during working hours at his office desk only. This is they call "inemuri" - napping on the job. But, you must sleep upright, and not put your head down on desk; it leads to better work performance.

Suppose, an investor has come to your office and mispronounced your company or any product name. One of your employee in a bid to correct him, annoyed him and you lost a rich investor. How to avoid this? Simply follow Apple.
In an apple store, employees are told that he should never correct a customer who mispronounced the name of a product, lest they feel bad.

Imagine employees having food at their desk and not cleaning the mess. Throwing things here and there, and not showing any concern for the cleanliness of the company. How does it feel? Bad, right?
However, in Disneyland and Walt Disney World it’s the responsibility of every single cast member, from the lowest man to the highest executive to clean up any trash they come across. The company is definitely not at the beck and call of cleaners.

This one's going to be a treat for the bosses. In July 2013 in UK, a new employment law came into force where workers will need to pay a certain amount (GBP1,200) just to take employers to court. This law led to protests by union workers who felt that vulnerable people will be exploited and will be kept outside the ambit of justice.
