How cute does Bajaj's 'Qute' really look? Check it out!

Christened Qute, the vehicle has been under process for almost four years now. Showcased in 2012 Auto expo, the production of what could be India's first quadricycle, has faced numerous regulatory hurdles. While still not clear for a launch in India, Bajaj has gone ahead and launched it for other countries. Here is how the vehicle looks.
Qute is powered by a 217cc engine producing 13.5 Ps power at 5500 rpm & 19.6 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. This gives it a top speed of 70 kmph. Bajaj Qute has a claimed fuel efficiency of 36 kmpl.
After the launch, the quadricycle was driven right through the crowded room, giving us a glimpse of its maneuverability which could be a definite advantage in the crowded Indian streets. The overall length of Qute is 2752mm, width is 1312mm, height is 1650mm and the turning radius is 3.5 meters.
The front of the vehicle houses the luggage area. It is deep enough to carry two mid size bags easily. According to Rajiv Baja, managing director of Bajaj Auto, the inspiration for the Qute came from Gillette. " "Instead of three wheels, we added one more wheel, just like Gillette went from single blade to triple and to five blades in a razor.
Bajaj Auto claims that quadricycle is well equipped to carry 4 passenger with luggage, up a 27 percent gradient. Qute employs a hybrid construction using high strength steel body & impact resistant plastic closures.
To begin with, Qute will be exported to 16 countries namely Turkey, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Peru, Nepal, Bangladesh, Tanzania, DOM Republic, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guatemela, Honduras, Indonesia and Ecuado
The rear bumper, which also covers the engine, has some nice design elements which gives the rear a decent look.
Qute sports a hard plastic roof, instead of a full metal roof. Though, it lends the vehicle a decent look. So much so, that form a distance it seemed as if the Qute has been equipped with a panoramic sunroof. However, it was not to be.
The legroom for the rear passenger is decent. Qute is the first Indian made Quadricycle to meet the stringent European Quadricycle norms and get the European WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval) certification awarded by RDW Netherlands.
Though the company is steadfast in saying that it is more a replacement of three wheeler, the badging at the rear of the Qute makes us believe that it aspires to be more than just a replacement to a 3-wheeler.
While the front windshield and rear screen are glass, the side windows are made of plastic, which can be rolled up or zipped down as needed.
Qute tries to asnwers its critics who point at safety of the car by giving safety feature like a seat belt even for the back seat passengers, which is surely a upgrade from the auto rickshaws that ply on Indian roads.
The car comes with 5 speed manual transmission and also has a radio player with USB port. In Turkey, it plans to price the vehicle at about $2,000 (Rs 1.32 lakh)
