Hyundai Creta launched - Take a look at the new compact SUV

The highly awaited Hyundai Creta is finally here. The South Korean company expects it to be a big number churner for them. The compact SUV is priced between Rs 8.6 lakh for the Base trim and Rs 13.6 for the top end variant.
The design of the SUV is based on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design concept. The split-type tail lamps, the low boot-lip help give a wide and tall stance
Hyundai has equipped Creta with a bi-functional projector headlamps with LED positioning lamps. It also has LED strip daytime running lights.
Creta has a dual-tone beige and black interior giving it a premium look. The well laid out and minimalistic design works well in the interior
The compact SUV comes with three engine options - a 1.6 litre petrol, 1.4 litre and a 1.6 litre diesel. The 1.6 Gamma Dual VTVT petrol engine produces 123 ps 6,400@ rpm and a peak torque of 15.4 kgm @ 4850 rpm. 1.6 CRDi Diesel engine, on the other hand, offers 128 ps @ 4,000 rpm and torque of 26.5kgm @ 1900-2750 rpm. The third engine is the 1.4 U2 CRDi Diesel engine that gives a power of 90 ps @ 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 22.4 kgm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm.
Creta is the first diesel compact SUV to offer a automatic transmission in diesel variant. It is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, available only in the SX+ trim, and a 6-speed manual transmission.
The material used in the interiors give it an upmarket feel. It also comes with electrically foldable ORVMs
The glove box, however, is not the most spacious, with space only for your papers and a few knick-knacks. Neither is it a cooled glovebox.
Creta comes with a fully automatic temperature control with cluster ionizer which is available from SX trim and above. The trims before SX get a manual air conditioning
Right from the S trim, the compact SUV comes with a multi-functional steering wheel with audio and bluetooth controls.
You will get a touchscreen audio visual navigation system in the top variant. It also has 1 GB internal memory.
The overall length of Creta is 4,270mm, width of 1,780mm, height of 1,630mm and a wheelbase of 2,590mm. The SUV has a fuel tank capacity of 55 litres
Creta is offered with 16 inch clean silver alloys in S+, SX and SX+ trims, and a 17 inch diamond cut alloys in SX(o) trim
Base to SX trim get a no-split flatbed rear seat setup, whereas the SX+ automatic and above get a 60:40 split rear seat.
It has a generous bootspace of around 402 litres.
The rear bench gives decent legroom and head room. Large glass area helps give a airy feeling. However....
insufficient shoulder room means accommodating three fully-grown men could be a real squeeze at the back
