In photos: 10 highest selling two-wheelers in 2015

Indian two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp's motorcycle Splendor was the highest selling two wheeler for the year 2015, according to data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

It sold 24,89,336 units last year as against 25,04,264 units during 2014. Its sales witnessed de-growth of 1 percent.

First launched in 1994, over the years Splendor went through several revamps.
The see-saw between Hero Splendor and Honda Activa continued the whole year.

Japanese two wheeler manufacturer Honda's best selling scooter Activa came second in the list after witnessing growth of 16 percent.

However, for the first time sales of Honda Activa came in the negative zone in November - December 2015.

Last year, it sold 24,09,166 units. During April - August, 2015, Activa sold over 1 million units, claimed the company.
Hero Passion came third in the list of top 10 selling two wheelers list during 2015. It reported 14 percent decrease in sales and stood at 11,86,621 units in 2015.

When compared with 2014, the top six positions remain unchanged last year also. However, out of the first six, only Honda Activa recorded positive sales.
This 100cc motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp continued to sustain its fourth position in the list, even after witnessing 2 percent decline in sales.

In 2014 it sold 11,02,690 units, while last year it sold 10,81,851 units.
This 125cc motorcycle was the fifth most sold two wheeler for the calendar year 2015. Last year it sold 73,404 units less when compared with 2014.

Last year its sales declined 8 percent.

In November 2015, Honda launched a new sporty version of its executive motorcycle CB Shine SP at Rs 59,900 to Rs 64,400 ex-showroom New Delhi to garner half of 1.75 lakh units a month market.
Chennai headquartered TVS Motor Company's moped XL Super witnessed 7 percent decrease in sales and stood at 7,18,296 units in 2015.

First launched in 1980, TVS Motors' moped XL Super crossed 1 crore sales mark in July 2015.

The company, to celebrate this landmark, launched a special edition of the XL Super.
This 125cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder motorcycle moved up to seventh from previous tenth position in 2015.

It experienced a growth of 18 percent and sold 6,28,288 units last year. In March 2015, Hero MotoCorp roped in Southern star Allu Arjun as its first regional brand ambassador in the country.

It even launched a new multimedia campaign featuring the actor with its motorcycle Glamour.
Bajaj Pulsar managed to retain eighth position in the 10 highest selling two wheelers list for the calendar year 2015.

Its sales were marginally down by 1 percent last year and stood at 6,24,182 units.

Last year Bajaj Auto expanded its Pulsar range of motorcycles with the launch of RS 200, AS 200, and AS 150.
Launched in September 2013, the 110 CC scooter TVS Jupiter recorded the maximum sales growth in 2015 in top 10 selling two wheelers list.

It sales jumped to 51 percent and stood at 4,99,905 units.

The scooter which crossed 5 lakh sales mark in May 2015, entered the top 10 selling two wheelers list in June.
The New Delhi based two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp's 110cc motorcycle Maestro made it the list at the tenth position.

Its sales witnessed growth of 4 percent last year and stood at 4,97,276 units.
Two Wheelers sales registered a marginal growth at 1.21 percent during April- December 2015 over April-December 2014.

Within the two Wheelers segment, Scooters grew by 11.39 percent while Motorcycles and Mopeds dropped by (-) 2.46 percent and (-) 5.39 percent respectively in April-December 2015 over April- December 2014.
