Honda BR-V launched; priced at Rs 8.7 lakh (ex Delhi)

Japanese automobile major Honda Motor Company will launch its compact SUV BR-V in India next fiscal year.

But, much before it is launched take a look at the exteriors and interiors of India bound Honda BR-V.
BR-V made its global debut at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015.

It is scheduled to be marketed first in Indonesia in early 2016.
BR-V is powered by a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine, producing 120 horsepower @ 6,600 rpm and maximum torque of 145 Nm @ 4,600 rpm.

It will come with either a new 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

In India, it is likely to get the 1.5 litre diesel mill as well.
This seven-seater SUV is expected to be the first direct competition to Maruti Suzuki's S-Cross.

It may be priced approximately between Rs 10.83 to Rs 12.50 lakh.
It is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel variants.

The model will also compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio, among others.
Feature-wise, Honda BR-V includes Dual and Front SRS airbag, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist and rear air-conditioner for the middle-row seats.
BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. It was jointly developed for the Asian market by Honda R&D Asia Pacific, in Thailand, and PT Honda R&D Indonesia. This model will be introduced to the Indonesian market as Honda's new generation crossover utility vehicle.

BR-V will also feature projector headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates, roof rails, steering mounted audio controls, a City-inspired instrument cluster, a touchscreen music system, automatic climate control and roof-mounted rear AC vents.
Honda BR-V is likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016.

It is expected that India the production of the SUV will start from mid 2016 at Honda Cars' Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
BR-V has been conceptualised on Honda Amaze platform, and Amaze has 90 percent localisation.
