New launches in 2015 which caught customers' attention

In 2015, India witnessed a slew of launches. Starting from compact sports utility vehicles and crossovers, to Honda's fifteen two wheeler and Hero MotoCorp's upgraded model launches, we saw everything.

However, there are certain launches which grabbed customers' attention.

Lets have a look at some of these new launches.
Hyundai Creta was one of the most awaited launches of this year and such was its craze that the compact SUV received 10,000 pre-bookings in 20 days.

Even before it was launched, it debuted in top 10 selling utility vehicles list in June by selling 1,641 units.

After getting booking of over 32,000 units of Cretas, Hyundai Motor India deferred its plans of exporting the vehicle and ramped up its domestic production from 5,000 to 7,000 units per month.

For two months (July and September) Creta surpassed Mahindra Bolero as the top selling utility vehicle.
Indian utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra's sub compact SUV, TUV300, outsell its closest rival in the segment Ford EcoSport for three consecutive months, since its launch.

For the last three months, it sold 12,761 units.

Its popularity led the company to ramp up its production in less than two moths of the launch.

On the day of Dhanteras alone, TUV300 secured 12,000 bookings, and out of those 40-45 percent belonged to the automatic version.
American automaker Ford India's Figo Aspire was the second most selling compact sedan in the month of its launch - August.

Figo Aspire was able to accelerate past the long timers like Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Toyota Etios and Tata Zest, which sold 3,202, 3,260, 2,652, and 2,006 respectively.

For the same month, it was among the top 10 selling passenger cars list.

The car single handedly helped the automaker turn the corner and help it post a decent growth in the month (53 percent) from a 14 percent fall in sales in July.

In fact, it was the biggest gainer during the month in terms of the percentage growth experienced.
Renault Kwid's success gets reflected from the fact that the French carmaker has ramped up the production of this compact hatchback by 50 percent for the next 3-6 months to meet the growing demand.

It crossed over 50,000 customer orders in less than a month of its launch.

One of the ways Renault created a buzz around Kwid is by releasing a mobile app as well as a virtual showroom where prospective buyers can check out the car complete with technical specifications and how it stacks up against the competition before.
With the launch of its premium hatchback Jazz, Japanese auto major Honda Cars India expected to further expand the segment and to attain a double digit growth in FY16.

Honda Jazz registered a sales of 9,000 units in the first month of its launch itself.

In the month of July, it became the single largest contributor to Honda Cars India's 18 percent growth with 6,676 units.

It was among the top 10 selling passenger cars during July - September, 2015. The car sold a total of 27,041 units in the last six months.
Maruti Suzuki India's premium crossover, S Cross, is the first car from the manufacturer to be sold though its premium dealership Nexa.

This helped a lot in focusing customers' attention to S Cross.

At the time of its launch, Executive Director and Head of Marketing and Sales, MSIL, T Hashimoto said "We have set an internal target of selling 4,000 to 5,000 units of S-Cross a month, and capacity can be ramped up or down depending on demand".

The car sold a total of 14,954 units during the period of July - November, 2015.
Baleno is the second car to be sold from Maruti Suzuki's premium dealership Nexa.

Within two days of launch, this premium hatchback received over 4,600 bookings. In the last two months, Baleno sold a total of 13,303 units.

In November, it was the sixth best selling passenger car in the Indian market. With Baleno, the company wants to become the no 1 in premium hatchback segment in India.
Hero MotoCorp's 110cc Duet was the eighth best selling scooter for the month of October. It sold 12,763 units, ahead of TVS Zest and Honda Aviator.

With Duet, the company expects to aggressively gain market share in the scooter segment.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India's fourth offering in the 100-110cc segment, Livo, has sold a total of 52,113 units in the last four months.

Livo crossed 5 figure sales mark in just 10 days. The Japanese company even said that in November, a lot of their dealerships went out of stock for Livo.

In October and November, Honda Livo surpassed its rival TVS Sport in sales. With Livo, Honda expects to capture the 100-110cc segment.
