Over 100 years old and still going: Here are some of the oldest auto companies

This French carmaker started as a coffee mill company in 1810. In 1891 it produced the type 3 which is the first series-manufactured car in the world. It was also their first car with an internal combustion engine.

Tatra is a Czech manufacturer and is the second oldest company in the world producing cars with an unbroken history, after Peugeot. It was founded in 1850, and in 1897, Tatra produced the first motor car in central Europe, the Präsident automobile.

This German automaker first started as a sewing machine manufacturer in 1862 by Adam Opel. It began manufacturing bicycles in 1886 and produced its first automobile in 1899. “Opel Patent Motor Car, System Lutzmann” is the name given to the first Opel automobile.

This American maker of automotive components was founded in 1869 as Westinghouse Air Brake Company. This publicly traded company is currently listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Renault was founded on February 25, 1899 by Louis Renault and his brothers Marcel and Fernand. The Renault Voiturette (Renault Little Car) was Renault's first ever produced automobile, and was manufactured between 1898 and 1903. The name was used for five models.

It was founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling, and was named after American Charles Goodyear, inventor of vulcanized rubber.
Fiat arrived in the summer of 1899 on July 11, with the 3½ HP, of which only 24 units were manufactured by a total of 150 workers in the Turin automotive factory, the only one in Italy.

This American motorcycle manufacturing company started in 1903. By 1920, Harley-Davidson was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, with 28,189 machines produced, and dealers in 67 countries.

This American automobile manufacturing company was founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. Ford is one of the largest family-controlled companies in the world. The Ford Model A is the first car produced by the automaker.

It was founded as Suzuki Loom Works in 1909 by Michio Suzuki. In 1937, the company diversified into manufacturing small cars.

TVS was founded in 1911 as a transportation company by TV Sundaram Iyengar. Later on in 1955, the company was forayed into different automobile segments.

This British luxury car manufacturer was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. The first Aston Martin was named Coal Scuttle and was manufactured in 1914.

BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) was founded on March 7, 1916 by Franz Josef Popp, Karl Rapp, and Camillo Castiglioni. The first car which BMW successfully produced was the Dixi.
