This is how a BMW motorcycle is manufactured

German luxury two wheeler manufacturer BMW Motorrad has officially started operation at the Group's first 100 percent motorcycle production plant, outside Germany, in Manaus, Brazil.
A total of around 10.5 million euros (around Rs 76 crore) were invested in the new plant.
The first model to be produced at the new site in Manaus is the BMW F 700 GS. The BMW F 800 GS, BMW F 800 GS Adventure, BMW F 800 R, BMW R 1200 GS, BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, BMW S 1000 R, BMW S 1000 RR and BMW S 1000 XR will also be locally produced in Manaus this year.
With an initial capacity of 10,000 motorcycles per year, the new unit has already hired more than 175 employees.
The two wheeler maker is working together with over 45 local suppliers; numbers that may increase depending on growth in local market demand.
Built on an area of around 10,000 m², the new plant took about nine months to complete.
BMW Motorrad is expanding its motorcycle production globally to achieve sustainable business growth. Brazil remains an important market for this strategy.
This facility is the second plant in Brazil, following the automobile production plant in Araquari.
BMW Motorrad Brazil is focusing its strategy on sustainable growth, based on domestic market potential. With this local production, the company expects to increase sales significantly.
Domestic production, starting with the BMW F 700 GS, guarantees even more availability and fast response to local demand in Brazil.
BMW Motorrad aims to increase worldwide sales to 2 lakh units by 2020.
The American market is an important element in achieving this goal.

In the next three years BMW Motorrad is looking to double its market share in the North and South American markets.
BMW Motorrad continued to grow sales through September with a total of 12,215 units sold in the month, an increase of 10.2% compared with the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales are up 3.2% with a total of 116,044 motorcycles and maxi-scooters delivered to customers in the first nine months of the year.
