Top selling models of each sub segment of PVs in Q1 FY16

The only car in the micro segment is Tata motors' low cost Nano. In Q1 FY16, the car sold 4,551 units, a 50 percent jump from Q1 FY15. Tata Motors recently launched new GenX Nano, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki's entry level hatchback Alto has been in the top selling car in mini segment for quite some time. Alto also regularly features among top three selling passenger cars and vehicles list.
The car in May 2015 crossed 13 lakh sales milestone since its launch in 2005. In Q1 FY16, 11,803 units less than Q1 FY15; a sharp fell of 25 percent.
The super compact segment, defined as having up to 5 seats, 4000 - 4250 mm in length and with up to 1.6 litre of engine displacement, was dominated by Dzire in Q1 FY 16. The car attained 10 lakh cumulative sales mark in July 2015.
This segment is same as super compact, but the length of the car is normally between 4250 - 4500 mm. With an increase of 4 percent when compared with Q1 FY15, Honda city continues to be the top selling car in this segment in the quarter ending June 2015.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched its 11th generation new Corolla Altis in May 2014. With a 39 percent jump in sales in quarter ended June 2015, Corolla continued to be the best selling model in executive segment. This segment has cars with engine displacement normally up to 2 litre.
Corolla ousted Skoda Superb from top selling car in premium segment (engine displacement up to 3 litre). Toyota Camry's face lift was launched recently in June 2015 at Rs 28.2 lakh (ex Delhi). The car sold 207 units in Q1 FY16.
Top selling UVs in Q1 FY16, remains the same as Q1 FY15.

Available in four variants and seven different colours, Toyota Innova is the top selling model in UV2 segment (length 4400 - 4700 mm, price up to Rs 15 lakh). It also featured in top 10 selling UVs in June 2015 at third position.
The lenght of this segment's models are >4700 mm and price is up to Rs 15 lakh. Force Motors' Trax is the top selling UV in this segment. The Trax is a series of "Multi Utility Vehicles" (MUVs) built by Force Motors in Pune. There has also been an SUV version called the Gama, especially aimed at private buyers. In the quarter ended June 2015, Trax witnessed 1 percent decrease in its sales, when compared with same quarter last year.

Fortuner sold 755 units more in Q1 FY16, than same quarter last year and experienced positive sales of 20 percent. Toyota launched the Fortuner in India in 2009. Fortuner production increased to more than 950 vehicles per month from the initial 500 units per month.
The last segment in utility vehicles in UV5 (price >Rs 25 lakh) and here also Toyota's Landcruiser has occupied the top slot. Present quarter, it witnessed 33 percent surge in its sales.
The Maruti Omni is a microvan, whose first version was launched in 1984. After that, the van occupying the first position in V1 segment (hard tops mainly used for personal transport), went through many facelifts. From April - June, 2015 the van sold 19,081 units.
This segment vans has soft tops and are used as maxi cabs. Tata Motors' Ace magic is the best selling model of V2 segment. Tata's recent initiatives of 'Shakti Vahini' and 'Veerangana Express' uses this van only.
