Volvo S60 PoleStar performance sedan

Volvo Auto India has launched its first ever performance model in India with the launch of Volvo S60 Polestar. The car is priced at an introductory price of Rs. 52.5 lakh (Ex-Delhi). Like its other model, Volvo S60 Polestar comes to India as a completely built unit (CBU).
The Polestar edition of the Volvo S60 sedan gets a bigger turbo, a supercharger, new conrods, new camshafts, a larger air intake and a higher capacity fuel pump to augment the engine. It also gets BorgWarner four-wheel drive system mated to an eight-speed geartronic automatic gearbox.
Polestar has reduced the Volvo S60’s weight by 24kgs. Its lighter over the front axle and 20kgs lighter in total compared to the previous model years.
Features on the Volvo S60 Polestar include a new 20” lightweight rim, Polestar calibrated electro-assisted power steering and a new slotted Brembo 6 piston caliper brake disc 371mm.
Henrik Fries, Vice President R&D, Polestar during the launch of the performance variant in India commented ”All changes made to the car are about improving drivability and efficiency. The base of the new engine carries motorsport technology with solutions like the combination of turbo and supercharger, lightweight materials and more. This works hand-in-hand with our core philosophy and has enabled us to evolve the Volvo S60 Polestar.”
Metal finished sporty pedals, 8-Speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters helps the performance sedan to do a o-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph.
The first ever road legal Polestar cars were launched in 2014 to limited markets. Volvo will soon be catering its Polestar models to 47 markets (up from 13) and doubling volumes from 750 to 1500 cars. India being a growth market promises to be an important step in achieving the targets believes the Swedish company.
Talking about the introduction of the new performance variant Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said “This car is remarkably quick, but it is more than that. It combines Polestar’s 20 years racing pedigree with Volvo’s inherent pragmatism and engineering heritage. It is a racing car that you can use every day of the year, be it track or city roads.”
Steering mounted controls, ergonomically sculpted seats for enhanced driving performance says the company.
