Hyundai Motor India Ltd was established in the year 1996 and has its headquarters in Chennai. It is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the country. It was formed by Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea. The company manufactures passenger cars and light trucks. They also export their cars across the globe. The company has entered the automobile market in the country and was completely unknown throughout the country. At the time of their entry, there were only five major automobile manufacturers in the nation that are: Maruti, Hindustan, Premier, TATA and Mahindra. At that time Maruti Suzuki had nearly monopoly in the passenger cars segment as TATA Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra were into utility and commercial vehicle manufacturers whereas Hindustan and Premier were both built outdated and uncompetitive products. The company has two manufacturing facilities in Chennai. They believe that they have the most advanced production, quality and testing capabilities in the nation. The company developed Hyundai Motor India Engineering in the year 2006 and started contributing to the development of Hyundai Motors new car models for the national market. The other research and development centres situated across the globe are in United States, Japan, Korea., Germany and China. The current models that are being manufactured are: Hyundai Eon, Grand i10, Xcent, Elite i20, I20 Active, Elantra, Creta and 3rd Gen-Verna. Shahrukh Khan is on board as their brand ambassador and has also won the "Brand ambassador of the year" award for Hyundai i10 at NDTV Profit car and bike awards. The company has recently won the award for Indian Car of the year for Hyundai Verna in 2017.

Hyundai launches Exter SUV with Dual Cylinder CNG technology, starting at INR 8.5 Lakh

The SUV is powered by a 1.2-litre Bi-Fuel (Petrol with CNG) engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Exter Hy-CNG Duo delivers a fuel efficiency of 27.1 Km/kg (ARAI Tested). To ensure safety, the SUV is equipped with a company-fitted CNG system with an Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU), guaranteeing a seamless driving experience while shifting from petrol to CNG and vice versa.

Hyundai Motor India with Laxmi Group begins assembly of Venue in Nepal

The country’s first automobile assembly plant was inaugurated by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Prime Minister of Nepal, and Tae-Young Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, in Nepal, on May 10, 2024. The assembly plant has an annual installed capacity of 5000 units, Hyundai said.

Hyundai Motor union to stage strike in South Korea on wednesday

Hyundai Motor's South Korean union will hold a four-hour strike on Wednesday, in support of the general strike organized by their umbrella union. The strike is scheduled to take place in two parts, with two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. The Korean Metal Workers' Union also plans to conduct a series of strikes against President Yoon Suk Yeol's administration.
