Hyundai Motor India Limited Description

Hyundai Motor India Ltd was established in the year 1996 and has its headquarters in Chennai. It is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the country. It was formed by Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea. The company manufactures passenger cars and light trucks. They also export their cars across the globe. The company has entered the automobile market in the country and was completely unknown throughout the country. At the time of their entry, there were only five major automobile manufacturers in the nation that are: Maruti, Hindustan, Premier, TATA and Mahindra. At that time Maruti Suzuki had nearly monopoly in the passenger cars segment as TATA Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra were into utility and commercial vehicle manufacturers whereas Hindustan and Premier were both built outdated and uncompetitive products. The company has two manufacturing facilities in Chennai. They believe that they have the most advanced production, quality and testing capabilities in the nation. The company developed Hyundai Motor India Engineering in the year 2006 and started contributing to the development of Hyundai Motors new car models for the national market. The other research and development centres situated across the globe are in United States, Japan, Korea., Germany and China. The current models that are being manufactured are: Hyundai Eon, Grand i10, Xcent, Elite i20, I20 Active, Elantra, Creta and 3rd Gen-Verna. Shahrukh Khan is on board as their brand ambassador and has also won the "Brand ambassador of the year" award for Hyundai i10 at NDTV Profit car and bike awards. The company has recently won the award for Indian Car of the year for Hyundai Verna in 2017.

India's jobless rate drops to four-month low as coronavirus ebbs

India’s jobless rate fell to the lowest level in four months in July, adding to signs of a nascent recovery in the economy where sales tax collections and demand for some commodities have signaled a rebound. The unemployment rate dropped to 6.95% last month from 9.17% the previous month, according to latest data from private research firm Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt.

Hyderabad: Luxury car seized in smuggling racket

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (Mumbai wing) seized a Nissan Patrol SUV worth around Rs 1 crore from Malakpet in connection with a luxury car smuggling racket using diplomatic privileges to evade customs duty. The vehicle was registered in Manipur in the name of a realtor from Malakpet.
