LG Balakrishnan & Bros Ltd was established in the year 1937 and as its headquarters in Coimbatore. They manufacture and sell chains, sprockets, and metal formed parts for automotive applications in India. They build bodies for buses, trucks, and vans the company also are a metal forming company concentrating on hot, warm & cold forging, blanking, fine blanking & precision machined parts. The company was initially started with a fleet of 250 buses but has now grown into India's leading Roller chain manufacturer. They are the first chain manufacturer in India to be awarded the ISO 9001 certification. They have become the first Indian Company to supply Timing Chains to 4 Wheelers. . OEMs in India and is considered to be the largest exporter to the U.S. The company has 17 chain manufacturing plants, all ISO 9001 certified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., USA. Three of the manufacturing facilities along with the central functions have been registered to ISO/TS 16949 by UL, USA. They have a recognized Export House. About 10% of LGB's products are being exported to USA, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Far & Middle East countries. They have also acquired Fine Blanking technology in Mid ‘80s for manufacturing Chain plates. It further extended its fine blanking division as a separate manufacturing during the late ‘90s, to cater to high OEM demands for Fine Blanked components. Presently, the company is a leading Fine Blanking Manufacturer having about 25 Fine Blanking Presses in operation. To maintain control over quality standards ,the company Ltd has all critical manufacturing in-house. This includes a steel rolling division to produce cold rolled steel strips, wires and strips with profiles. Their tooling division is one of the most modern in the country. This division is equipped with sophisticated CNC wire cutting, spark erosion and Mikron CNC Boring machines for precision and complicated machining. They're focused on innovation and has put places great emphasis on R&D, which has the facility of Pro-E, CAD & CAM. The Government recognized R&D facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for the testing of raw materials and finished products.
