Maruti Suzuki launches 2022 Brezza, price starts at INR 7.99 lakh

The second-generation Brezza will be available in manual and automatic transmission options. Built on Suzuki’s TECT platform, the model comes with electric sunroof, 22.86cm SmartPlay Pro+ Infotainment system, wireless charging dock, head up display, 360view camera.

Toyota, Suzuki to begin production of new hybrid SUV in India from August

“Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) and TKM will market the new model in India as Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively. Furthermore, the two companies are planning to export the new model to markets outside India including Africa,” the two companies said in a joint statement.

The draft notification for mandatory six airbags ups the ante on safety but India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki feels it will hurt the price sensitive entry-level car segment, where even a minimal increase in price impacts the user's car buying decision. Further, fitting six airbags in cars like the Alto may not be easy and once the regulation is implemented the fate of such cars is uncertain.

Maruti Suzuki’s funding for MAIL programme amounts to INR 20 cr

The MAIL programme, which was launched in January 2019, identifies and collaborates with startups to co-create technology-led solutions in mobility and automobile space. Maruti Suzuki has partnered with GHV Accelerator, an Indo-Japanese early-stage seed fund, for the programme, the company said.

Maruti Suzuki logs record sales of 2.3 lakh CNG cars in FY22; has backlog of 1.2 lakh bookings

CNG cars contributed 17% to the total sales and 33% to the sales of the models with CNG variants. CNG’s contribution to the overall industry sales is about 8.5%. Maruti Suzuki has 9 out of 15 models with CNG options. The biggest driver of the demand is the low running cost of CNG cars at about INR1.80 /km. For petrol / diesel cars it is about INR 5.20 /km, the company said.

'India poised to see highest-ever passenger vehicle sales'

The highest car sales ever recorded in a single year in India was in 2018-19, when industry volume was at 33.8 lakh units. After that, sales of passenger vehicles - including small cars, sedans, SUVs and MPVs - slipped to 27.7 lakh units in 2019-20 due to economic challenges and slowdown in metros.
