Michelin India Private Ltd Description

Michelin India Private Ltd was established almost a decade ago. Through a rapidly expanding distribution network, has established itself as a leading international tyre maker in the country. They offer a range of tyres which feature the best of Michelin’s innovative technology. Their tyres are designed, produced and marketed to meet the challenges of mobility in the Indian market. Their range of products in India caters to the rising demands of the Passenger Cars, Truck & Bus and Two Wheeler & OTR (Off the Road) vehicles. The company has innovated in the distribution space, providing drivers with a much better tyre buying experience, in order to ensure that Michelin quality tyres are supported with the highest levels of service. In the year 2009, Michelin Group and Tamil Nadu government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Michelin’s tyre manufacturing plant. This 290 acres facility is currently focusses on manufacturing a range of Radial Truck/Bus tyres. Most of their community projects are designed in consultation with local stakeholders, and are implemented with the direct participation of beneficiaries (e.g. biogas programs, and health and skill development) around our Chennai manufacturing unit. The manufacturing plant near Chennai started commercial production of MICHELIN radial truck tyres. Over 700 people helped bring the plant on stream, of which 350 Indian employees were trained in 12 countries. 4,500 tonnes of machinery requiring 280,000 meters of cable were installed to operationalize the facility. They have adopted and implemented the Group’s “Green Factory” concept at the Chennai plant. Through this initiative, over 6000 saplings have been planted at the site. The plant is currently operational.
