Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Review

Maruti Suzuki unveiled their first Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), the Ertiga at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. The Ertiga is inspired by the RIII concept of Maruti Suzuki and is based on Swift's platform.
The Ertiga competes with Toyota Innova, Renault Lodgy and Honda Mobilio with respect to specifications, engine and performance.

EXTERIOR
The front fascia of the Ertiga looks similar to that of the Swift, apart from some minimal changes like the swept-back headlamps. There are fog lamps both in front and rear. The rear off the car has an angular shape and design, similar to that of Jazz. The exterior features also include body colored bumpers, outside door handles, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and chrome finished front grille.
The wheel base is of 2740mm.

INTERIOR
The Ertiga features dual tone and plush interior design. The dashboard is sleek with ergonomically designed buttons. The fabric upholstery is also good. The interior features include glove box, steering mounted audio controls, foldable 2nd and 3rd row seats, ample of head/leg/shoulder room in the first 2 rows but the 3rd row is more of a squeeze. It also features a new instrument cluster with LED display, AC vents and power socket in the second row.

ENGINE, PERFORMANCE, BRAKING & HANDLING
The Ertiga comes with two fuel options ? petrol and diesel ? the petrol engine is a 1.4L K-series motor which produces 95Ps of maximum power and a peak torque of 130Nm, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox. As per ARAI the MT offers a mileage of 17.50kmpl and the AT provides 17.03kmpl of mileage. On the other hand, the diesel variant comes equipped with the 1.3L DDiS200 engine that churns out 91Ps of maximum power and a peak torque of 200Nm, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, offering a mileage of 24.52kmpl.
The ride quality is also improved with MacPherson strut suspension in the front and torsion beam coil suspension in the rear.
The vehicle's ground clearance is of 185mm.

SAFETY
The safety features include ABS with EBD, body structure is made out of high tensile steel, rear parking sensors, and dual SRS front airbags.

CONCLUSION
The Ertiga is a perfect buy for a pleasant city drive, it already comes loaded with features and safety features like airbags and ABS with EBD come as standard.
