Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Maruti Suzuki recently announced the launch of the Ignis, which promises sensible Maruti values and low running costs with a healthy dose of modern-day appeal and thrills.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Ignis at an EDM concert headlined by Axwell and featuring Dannic and Nikhil Chinnappa.
The Ignis from Maruti Suzuki is the latest example of how affordable price tag can have a host of features.

EXTERIOR
The front fascia features LED projector headlamps with U-shaped LED DRLs. The truth is that it is very difficult to classify this car; it’s small and fits in the premium hatchback segment but the strong shoulder line with a large glass area clearly states that this is no conventional hatchback, but a compact crossover which cannot be missed.
The side profile feature 15-inch alloy wheels, available on the Zeta and Alpha trims with 175/65 R15 tyres. The rear of the car is a simple design language but with a dash of earthy design and large tail lamps with the number plate housing.
And the car can be customized according to each buyer's taste and Maruti Suzuki would do it, at an additional cost.
The 3-slats on the C-pillar look a bit odd, for some.

INTERIOR
The interiors of the Ignis are newly designed with a floating layered dashboard that has a dual tone, ivory and black finish and fine quality plastic. The front row has a cockpit-like feel with toggle switches, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio and phone controls which are not only easy to operate but also good to touch. The front seats are supportive and have good side bolstering as well and there is ample legroom, knee room and shoulder room for four occupants.

SAFETY
The safety front in Maruti Suzuki Ignis is another plus point. All versions of the Ignis are offered with ABS with EBD, dual front airbags and ISOFIX anchorage for child seats, immobilizer, speed sensitive auto door lock, anti-theft security alarm system and smart warning indicators.
The higher variants of the Ignis also get rear demister with wiper and so on. In total, the safety package offered on the compact crossover is not just good, but a benchmark in its segment.

CONVENIENCE
For convenience, the Ignis offers an electric power steering with height adjustable tilt steering, remote central lock, all 4 door – power windows, electrically adjustable orvms and a rear parcel tray.

ENGINE, PERFORMANCE, RIDE & HANDLING
The Ignis comes in both petrol and diesel variants along with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) featuring in both variants.
The petrol variant is a 1.2L 4-cylinder VVT engine producing 83Ps of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or Auto Gear Shift feature. It gives 20.89kmpl as mileage.
While the diesel variant is powered by a 1.3L 4-cylinder DDiS engine which offers 75Ps of power and 190Nm of peak torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or Auto Gear Shift. It gives a fuel efficiency of 26.80kmpl.
The handling of the car is neutral and the suspension setup is also neutral.
Over normal curves, there is a little body roll, but nothing is uneasy; and on straight highways the stability is impressive.

CONCLUSION
With all the range topping features, the Ignis from Maruti Suzuki is a sensible all-rounder and a worth purchasing.
