Datsun Redi GO Review
EXTERIOR
The Datsun RediGo features a hexagonal front grille with big furrowed headlamps and DRL strips. The short bonnet, sculpted bumpers with faux skid plate gives the RediGo a brave and bold road presence. From the side profile, two distinct character lines flow along the length to create multiple layers along with the tallboy stance which is not only for the aesthetics but also for better ingress and egress.
INTERIOR
The inside of the RediGo receives a conventional design setup, which includes a conventional handbrake and a 2-din music system with a digital display. For the interiors, hard wearing plastics have been used and are neatly trimmed. There is ample of head/leg/shoulder room due to the tallboy design of the RediGo, along with high seating position and forward sloping design. The boot is 220L though, but the rear seat can be folded entirely for more space.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION, RIDE & HANDLING, BRAKING & SAFETY
The RediGo is offered in three variants – RediGo 0.8L, RediGo 1.0L and RediGo sport.
The RediGo 0.8L and the RediGo Sport derive the power from a 799cc motor which produces 54Ps of power and a peak torque of 72Nm, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The RediGo 1.0L is powered by a 999cc motor with I-SAT engine technology. It churns out 68Ps of power and 91Nm of peak torque, and comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission.
The RediGo is well-equipped with comfort and convenience features like speed sensitive EPAS, a digital instrument cluster,
The ride and handling is good too, with McPherson Strut suspension with lower transverse link in the front and twist beam with coil springs at the rear. As far as the safety is concerned, Datsun has equipped the RediGo with driver’s airbag, 3-point seat belts (front and rear), 2-point seat belt (rear-central), rear door child safety lock, immobilizer and a high mounted stop lamp, along with an SUV-like ground clearance and 155/800 R13 tyres.
CONCLUSION
The RediGo is the perfect entry-level compact hatch by Datsun. Priced at the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh and Rs. 3.5 lakh, the RediGo will be competing with the likes of the Alto 800 and Tata Nano.
