Tata Nano Review
The Nano was launched by Tata Motors in 2009. Since then, this micro city car has gained a lot of popularity. The new Nano is based on the automaker’s Designext platform.
EXTERIOR
The Nano, presently, sports a tall body stance, small wheels, and large windscreens, along with a distinctive exhaust noise making the Nano stand out in the market. The front fascia of the Nano features clear lens smoked headlights with “Nano” engraved on them, along with a smiling infinity motif grille and large circular fog lamps. The Nano is 3164mm long, 1750mm wide and 180mm of ground clearance. The Nano runs on tubeless 135/70 R12 (F) and 155/65 R12 (R) tyres. The rear of the Nano features a chrome accent above the rear bumper and a similar grille (to that in the front), but without the brake lights.
INTERIOR
The inside of the Nano is basic and resembles to that of the first-gen model. The GenX variant features a new generation steering wheel, the AC vents get a chrome lining, and the seat upholstery now feels more premium, along with the updated AC and the modern instrument cluster, which shows distance to empty, average fuel economy, electronic trip meter, digital clock and a low fuel warning lamp.
The top-end variant also gets an integrated AmphiStream Music System with 4 speakers and bluetooth/USB/Aux-in options, along with a 12V power socket for convenience. There is ample of head/leg/shoulder room in both the rows.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION, RIDE & HANDLING, BRAKING & SAFETY
The Nano is offered with a two-cylinder MPFi 624cc petrol engine, which produces 38Ps of power and a peak torque of 51Nm, and comes mated to either a 4-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT.
The Nano is offered with an innovative creep function allowing the car to move in D mode. It comes iin handy during bumper-to-bumper traffic jams, where you can control the movement br pressing or releasing just the brakes.
The ride quality also feels nice with independent suspensions at the front and rear with anti-roll bar for increased stability at higher speeds. Also the 180mm ground clearance comes in handy, when one needs to avoid potholes. Braking is also quite sorted with drum front and rear brakes.
On the safety front, the Nano comes well equipped with impact cushioning crumple zone, reinforced body structure for enhanced frontal crash safety, robust side doors with intrusion beams for side crash protection, anti-roll bar for high speed stability and SUV-like ground clearance of 180mm.

The Tata Nano is the perfect city car for all your daily needs. Priced in the range of Rs. 1.9 lakh to Rs. 2.89 lakhs, the Nano the perfect and the most economically priced automatic hatch in the entire world.
