Rane Madras Ltd was established in the year 1929 and has its headquarters in Chennai. The company is a part of the Rane Group of Companies and is involved in the manufacture and distribution of steering and suspension systems. The main components that are manufactured by them includes: manual steering gear products and suspension steering linkage products. The company also produces high precision aluminium die casting products for the automotive industry in the country. The other products that are included are tie rod assemblies, drag link assemblies, center link assemblies and gear shift ball joints. The automobile companies that use their products include Ashok Leyland, Volvo, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tafe and TATA and many more. Over the years, the company has grown to be the largest in the group, both in terms of size as well as turnover. The company has manufacturing plants at Chennai, Kancheepuram, Mysore, Thirubuvanai and Pantnagar. All the plants deals with a specific industry segment. The production facilities at the Mysore plant deals with tractor and commercial vehicles segment whereas the Thirubuvanai plant caters to the passenger car segment. The plant at Chennai deals with the light commercial vehicle, heavy commercial vehicle and utility vehicle segment. The Kancheepuram plant deals with the export market and the plant in Pantnagar deals with the manufacturing supplies of gears specifically to TATA Motors Ltd. The company has recently celebrated its platinum jubilee as they turned seventy five years old in the industry. The company has also received many awards: Japanese Deming Grand Prize in the year 2012 and Jamshetji TATA Award to name a few.
