Datsun GO Review
With the Go, Datsun is targeting the first time car buyers. The Datsun Go, priced at under Rs. 4 lakh range, is packed with advance features to keep you entertained on the go.
EXTERIOR
The front fascia of the Go features the Datsun character grille with the carmaker’s logo in the middle, 3-dimensional shaped headlamps and bold yet curvy fenders. The side profile feature distinctive shoulder lines and 155/70 R13 tyres. At the rear, the Go features extended shoulder lines, along with a smaller glass area and a neat looking boot lid with just the nomenclature.
INTERIOR
The inside of the Go best-in-class cabin space with adequate of leg/head/shoulder room for all occupants. The dash and the interior feature a leather-feel grain pattern that is soft to touch, looks premium and feels nice. Also, the front seats are connected for easy storage/movement, the boot is spacious with 265L of space.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION, RIDE & HANDLING, BRAKING & SAFETY
The Datsun Go is powered by a 1.2L 3-cylinder DOHC petrol engine that churns out 68Ps of power and a peak torque of 104Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The ride and handling is also quite sorted with McPherson Strut suspension with double pivot lower arm in the front and H-type torsion beam suspension at the rear. Also, the braking is quite good with ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear.
In terms of comfort and convenience, Datsun has loaded the Go with a drive computer, which displays a digital tachometer, distance to empty, average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel economy, low fuel warning, trip meter and electronic fuel gauge, along with follow me headlamps, gear shift guide, remote fuel lid opener, remote tailgate opener, heater, accessory socket (12v) and rear seat folding.
For the safety of the passengers, the Go comes well-equipped with 3-point ELR seat belts (front and rear), child lock, engine immobilizer and headlamp levelling device.
CONCLUSION
The Datsun Go, being the entry level car for the Japanese auto major is good but improvements are to be made in terms of build quality and performance. Albeit a few shortcomings, the Datsun Go with a affordable price tag (range) of under Rs. 4 lakh, is still quite a good proposition for first time car buyers.
